Jennifer Langham Mackesey died at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 9, 2016, surrounded by her children, her youngest sister, and a dear friend. The cause was a respiratory complication related to Parkinson’s disease. She was sixty-two years old.

Born May 18, 1954, in London, England, she moved to Baltimore at a young age when her father, Dr. Maurice Edward Langham, took a position with the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Medical School. Ms. Mackesey attended St. Paul’s School for Girls, where she was known for her humor, mischief, and empathy. She loved travelling, animals, making people laugh, and, most of all, her children. 

Ms. Mackesey is survived by her son, Trevor Mackesey of Bloomington, Indiana; her daughter, Devon Mackesey of Baltimore, Maryland; her mother, Pamela Langham of Cockeysville, Maryland; and three sisters, Susan Parr of Irvine, California, Christine Middleton of Bethany Beach, Delaware, and Fiona Langham of Phoenix, Maryland.

Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 11856 Mays Chapel Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, July 9, beginning at 10am, followed by a brief reception. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Maryland Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, P.O. Box 5143, Baltimore, Maryland 21224 and Gilchrist Services, 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, Maryland 21031.
