Thomas Seraydarian, Jr. Obituary

Thomas Seraydarian, Jr., 95, of Parkville, Maryland, passed away on 07/01/2025.
He was born to parents Thomas and Angel, on 07/05/1929 in Philadelphia, PA.

He is a graduate of West Philadelphia HS. He earned a BA from West Chester University, a Masters degree from Rutgers University, and ultimately graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a  Doctorate in Education.

His undergraduate education was interrupted by his Army service. While stationed in Illinois, he was introduced by relatives to Rose Torosian. They married in South Milwaukee, WI on August 16, 1952. Rose passed away in 2018.

Tom was a career educator, starting as a classroom teacher and later serving as a guidance counselor, high school principal and school superintendent. His final professional position was as Director of Professional Development Education for the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. 

He enjoyed spending time with family, watching classic movies, reading, discussing current events, following Philly sports, and, as a younger man, golfing, baseball umpiring and floating in the waves off Brigantine, NJ. 

Tom is survived by children Richard, Mark and Elise, their spouses Nancy, Janis and John, and grandchildren Hannah, Thomas, Michael, Matthew and Megan. He will also be missed by seven nieces, nephews and godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas, mother Angel, and sister Alice.

A memorial service will be take place at the Oak Crest Village Chapel on  Saturday, August 23, 2025 11:00 a.m., 8810 Walther Blvd, Parkville MD. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oak Crest Benevolent Fund.
