Mary Dell Wogsland Obituary

On Saturday, March 14th, our beloved mother, Mary Dell Wogsland was called home to be with our Lord. She lived a life rooted in faith and was devoted to Christ. Her world focused on faith and her family which was always so very important to her. Mary Dell now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and suffering. She lived an amazing and abundant 99 1/2 years!

Mary Dell Wogsland was born to Robert and Mattie Fortune on August 4, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland. She fell in love and married Neal C. Wogsland in 1952, and they had 3 children (Dell, James, and Nancy). She was the most loving and encouraging Mom ever!

Mary Dell Wogsland graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1944. She graduated from Church Home and Hospital’s School of Nursing where she earned her RN in 1950. She is a longtime member of 1st Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA.

Her life revolved around her family, but she enjoyed activities, too. She was a leader of Christian Women’s Club, a Sunday School and VBS teacher, a PTA mom, a huge part of the Sewing Circle, and more recently involved in the “JOY” group at church. She had a very special card ministry sending many cards each month for birthdays, get well wishes, and encouragement.

She is now at peace and is reunited in heaven with her mother, (Mattie L. Fortune), her father (Robert H. Fortune Sr.), her husband (Neal C. Wogsland), her son (James O. Wogsland), and her brother (Robert H. Fortune).

She is survived by her daughters Dell Elias (and Robert Elias) , Nancy Nicholas (and Ken Nicholas), and daughter-in-law Sally Hayes (and David). Mary Dell adored her 6 grandchildren - Bradley Wogsland, Patrick Wogsland (Ansley), Jaime Lesh (Craig), Julie Elias, Kristen Meredith (Dillon), and Brenton Nicholas. She loved her 9 great grandchildren - August Wogsland, Brittan Wogsland, Maxwell Wogsland, Zara Wogsland, Lexi Golshani, Ellie Wogsland, Marshall Wogsland, Jaxon Meredith, and Raia Meredith. Mary Dell was especially close to her dear nephews Jay Fortune (Leslie) and Brett Fortune (Helen), their children (Matthew, Miriam, Mitchell, Alissa, Brooke, Dane, and Shawn), and their children also.

A celebration of life will be held at Northside Chapel, Roswell, GA on Friday, March 27 at 1:00pm where we will gather to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life. A livestream of the service will be available on the Northside Chapel website.
