Jed Jones, a beloved uncle, brother, son, father, and grandfather, peacefully entered eternal rest on December 22, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on October 15, 1936, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Jed lived a life full of love, laughter, creativity, and service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Ullman Jones; his sisters, JoAnn and Lois; and his brother, James. Jed’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his sons, Kurt Jones and wife Leslie, along with their sons Luke and Zachary, and Steve Jones and wife Michelle, with their daughters Charlotte and Madelyn, as well as their expectant child, due to arrive in January. He will also be fondly remembered by his former wife, May Sears, with whom he shared a lifelong friendship built on mutual respect and care.
Jed’s love for music brought joy to his family, often serenading them with heartfelt renditions of his favorite song, Oh Shenandoah. A talented craftsman, he delighted in creating furniture with his hands and solving mechanical challenges.
Jed honorably served his country with distinction, first as a weapons mechanic in the U.S. Air Force and later as an engineer mechanic in the U.S. Army, exemplifying unwavering dedication and exceptional skill. While in the Air Force, he demonstrated expertise in general armament operations and in the specialized weapons field. In addition he showcased his versatility through his carpentry and handyman skills. Jed’s maturity, mission-focused mindset, and tireless work ethic made him an invaluable member of the U.S. Air Force Armament Section.
Jed Jones will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts and stories of those who loved him most. He has now joined his family in the gates of heaven, where his melody will continue to echo.
