George "Fred" Walter Obituary
Mr. George F. Walter, formerly of Baltimore, died on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Mr. Walter had been residing in Venice, FL for the last 12 years. Mr. Walter, known to his family and friends as Fred, was born on 12-29-46 to George F. Walter, Sr. and Doris E. Walter. He was a graduate of Loyola High School Class of 1964. He worked a s a Chesapeake Maryland Bay Pilot for 38 years guiding ships safely through the Chesapeake Bay. He took charge of any vessel entering the Bay from tall sailing ships to nuclear submarines. He spent most of his life in Parkville, MD, and enjoyed retirement in Venice, Fl. His hobbies were golf, fishing, crabbing and photography, and he excelled in them all.
Mr. Walter was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, June Walter of Venice, FL. Also surviving are his sister, Nancy Hammen (Dave) of Ocean City, MD, brother Joseph Walter (Jenny) of Bradenton, FL, three children Jennifer Walter, Perry Hall, MD, Suzanne Walter, Nottingham, MD, and James Walter, Bel Air, MD. He is also survived by Sally Antkowiak (Bill), his first wife and mother of his children. He is survived by 2 step children Geralynn Smith of Delaware, and Kurt Spann of Vermont, 3 nieces, one nephew, and 6 grandchildren.
