John Frederick "Fred" Hobine, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 in his 94th year. Born in Baltimore to the late William D. and Lillian C.(Budde) Hobine; beloved husband of Ruth (Fischer) Hobine for almost 60 years; cherished father of Krista Salsberg and husband Scott of Rosedale; loving, proud grandfather of Shawn and Brian Salsberg; dear brother of the late William G. Hobine; close brother-in-law of Robert Fischer and wife Christina of Elkridge. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Fred was very active in Masonic and other organizations including: DeMolay, Liberty Pickering Lodge #219, Grand Lodge of Maryland, Yankee Rebels, Maryland Drum & Bugle Corps Hall of Fame, Hamilton Shrine Club, Scottish Rite 33rd Degree, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, President of Immediate Benefits, Honorary Member of Legion of Honor and others. Fred and Ruth were very active members of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM in the family owned Parkview Funeral Home, 7527 Harford Rd, Parkville/Northeast Baltimore. A Masonic Lodge Service will begin at 8:45 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM in St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7001 Harford Rd, Parkville/Northeast Baltimore. Interment will follow in Parkwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are to be directed to St. Luke Church or/and Boumi Transportation Fund, 5050 King Ave, Baltimore, MD 21237
