Dolores Balcita Obituary

Dolores P. Balcita (“Dolly”), 84, of Baltimore, MD,  passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on April 16, 2025. As a result, the light in the world is a little dimmer without her humor and joy.

Born in the Philippines, Dolly graduated from the University of Santo Thomas and worked as an educator until she moved to the United States with her husband Angel. They lived for many years in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where she managed Angel's medical practice, lovingly raised their children, and joined a community of friends who felt more like family.

Dolly made beautiful things; she loved to cook, bake, draw, sew, and crochet. She loved to sing while Angel played the ukulele, and she loved doting on her grandchildren, who always enjoyed being silly with their Yaya. But, she'll always be remembered for her wit and humor. She made quick friends with everyone she encountered, and one of her greatest joys was sharing a chuckle and a joke with someone else until you were both breathless and crying from laughter.

Dolly is survived by Dr. Angel B. Balcita, Jr., her loving husband of 56 years; daughter Angela (Chris) Balcita; son Joel (Karla) Balcita; grandchildren Nico and Julian; and sisters Remedios (Abe) Asuncion and Evangeline (Mario) Domingo. She is preceded in death by her sister Carmencita Luna and her granddaughter Sadie Ann Balcita.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate contributions to St. Joseph's Indian School.
