Thomas Perrera Obituary

Remembering
Pastor Thomas James Perrera 5/21/45-11/14/18
Who was also known
by his many equestrian friends as “Tommy Tucker”

After 30 years of marriage and ministry, my husband and best friend “Pastor Tom” went home to be with Jesus.
Pastor Tom is survived by Michele Perrera, his wife; and his loving sisters Nancy C. Hubble, and Marie Narowanski. Preceded by: His Mother, Dorothy Brittingham (Roth) “Granny” his sister Connie Braswell, and twin brothers Paul Perrera and Martin Perrera
His children, Minnie Martin, and Dewey Perrera and our adopted son Sharieff Wilson. Tom also had two children who proceeded him: Thomas J. Perrera Jr., Linda C. Perrera
His grandchildren: Amanda Marks, Sabryna Shingara, & Tara Martin, Michelle, Anthony, and David. His great-grandchildren; Jackson and Camyden

His love for us was infectious and he made us all laugh, even when his own pain was great, he made us smile.
We were visiting our dear friend Pete Dunning who Tom affectionately called “Bible Thumping Pete.” Pete (a farrier/blacksmith) was the man who led him to Jesus while Tom held horses for him and it is the place where he when home to be with Jesus. We had just entered his home when Tom had a massive heart attack and instantly went to be with the Lord.

Pastor Tom graduated from Berean Bible College, was the founder of Highways and Hedges Ministry and was the first minister in the 1980’s to go out on a daily basis feeding and caring for Baltimore’s homeless. He later became the Pastor of Evangelism at Calvary Assembly of God, Hanover, PA and finished his journey at Woodlawn Christian Fellowship where he and his wife Michele pastor since 2006. Pastor Tom was so loved by his congregation and he some sayings:
“Beat us from the feet up, tore up from the floor up, wrecked up from the neck up.”
He always said, “Glad to see your face in this place and a smile when you walk down the aisle”
He also said, if he carried his 6 pack in the world he could surely carry his 66 pack (the bible) for Jesus and he it proudly.

At 4’ 9 ½” Tom was really bigger than life and although he was very introverted (yes really) he came alive when he was around those he loved, and of course when he had an opportunity to introduce you to Jesus.
He also had this special gift of remembering birthdays. If he knew your birthday he would call you and sing to you. So many of you looked forward to that. Even if he didn’t know how to reach you anymore, he remembered your birthday.
Not only did he spread the love of God, but he was also a Jockey, Power Lifter and he is in the York Barbell hall of fame. In his younger years, he was quite the athlete and also played the harmonica, guitar, piano and anything he could get his hands on.
Besides Jesus and Michele, his other love was horses. He snuck on the Race Track when he was young and got bit by the race track bug. His passion and something he always missed was being able to ride the horses. Not a week went by when he didn’t talk about this.
His other passion was reading the Bible. How many people do you know who read and studied the bible 29 times?
If you knew Tom, he loved you and felt your love. Each of you was special to him.
I will end this for now with the lyrics from Mary Tyler Moore show. I sang it to him when he would feel down.
Who can turn the world on with his smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you Tom, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement, you show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have the town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all!
and he did, He made us all smile…
