Lewis, Rodney Wayne "Rod"

Rod Lewis, age 72 died on August 13, 2017 at his home in Oak Crest Village in Parkville, following a long , courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of Elaine Johnston; devoted father of David Lewis (Shazz), Kelli Daniels, Cristy Lombardo (Kevin) and Todd Lewis; loving grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of two.

Rod was a special person - unfailingly kind, generous, witty, and wise. Born in Baltimore, Rod attended Baltimore Polytechnic and the University of Maryland. A true Renaissance man, he had too many interests to list, but he especially loved sailing, traveling, cooking, cars, astronomy, science, politics, sports, and music of all kinds. He took great pleasure in entertaining family and friends.

A man of many talents, his career included founding and leading two companies. After retiring from The Rouse Company, Rod and Elaine spent time in Europe, and lived in Naples, FL, Callawassie Island, SC, and Sarasota, FL before returning home to Baltimore

At Rod's request, he will be cremated, and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. His ashes, along with Elaine's, will be incorporated into a reef to be placed by Eternal Reefs, Inc. in the future. If desired , memorial contributions may be made in Rod's name to your favorite charity or the American Cancer Society.
