Edward C. Benton passed away in his 78th year on December 23, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Ed was born on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and continued to love that area his entire life.  Although his parents moved him and his brother and sister to Baltimore when he was only 6 years old, Ed’s heart and soul stayed on the shore.  He loved to fish in the rivers and ponds in and around Queen Anne’s County and hunt in the pine forests in Wicomico County. Ed started working when he was 14 years old and didn’t stop until he was 62.  He worked as an industrial electrician and worked almost every job with his brother Frank. He mentored a number of young men during his career.  Ed made friends easily kept in touch with many during his lifetime. Ed truly enjoyed spending time outdoors especially fishing and deer hunting.  He expressed his artistic and creative skills by making silver jewelry, doing embroidery, carving wood objects including a number of walking sticks, and making furniture.  Oh, and he loved to play his acoustic guitar and draw funny characters for his grandkids.  Ed is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Dotty, his son Bryan, daughter-in-law Tina, and their children Brooke and Jacob, as well as his daughter Bonny, son-in-law Matt, and their children Jaime and Lily.  He will be greatly missed by the Benton and Giordano families and all his friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents Charles and Dorothy Benton and siblings Frank Benton and Joan Fairbank.

The Benton family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 3–5 and 7–9 pm in the family owned PARKVIEW FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Service, 7527 Harford Rd, Parkville.  Please dress as if you are going hunting or fishing with Ed.
